NCAPP Engages in Discussions with NCPA

At the NCAPP Spring Meeting some members suggested that we engage NCPA in discussions about changing the Licensure Act to include the possibility of independent practice for LPAs.  Shortly after and with uncanny timing, Dr. Bob Hill, the director of the Clinical/Health Psychology Master of Arts training program, offered to help in our efforts which we gratefully accepted. The NCAPP board met with Dr. Hill to discuss independence for LPAs. He facilitated an initial joint meeting with three board members representing each organization in Greensboro on August 11th. While this meeting was a preliminary "meet and greet," NCAPP members identified several topics as possible avenues to change the Practice Act.  We agreed to meet with members of NCPA again in October.  As this process moves forward, we want your input and reactions.  So please respond to any polls or surveys we send and share your thoughts on Facebook.

Inexpensive CEU idea

Several of the continuing education companies have occasional sales or specials on their online or DVD programs. A group of three LPAs took advantage of one of these sales and each bought a DVD program for $79 from PESI. The $79, plus shipping and handling, included 6 CEU credits upon completion. Additional CEUs can be purchased for $20. The LPAs shared the programs and were able to each get 18 CEUs credit for approximately $123 without the additional costs of travel and loss of revenue for the days spent at seminars. What a great way to meet licensing requirements!
